Research Requirements

Research Requirements

Choose sources as if you were a journalist assigned to do a feature article on your topic.  You should be searching for the most current and authoritative sources possible--either primary (interviews, etc.) or reliable "expert" secondary sources.  You must cite and include information from a minimum of 6 sources in the following categories:

  1. General reference sites (Wikipedia, Ask.com, etc.) are not to be included as one of your six.  That being said, don't hesitate to start your research with them.  Wikipedia bibliographies are very helpful!
  2. Sources must be as current as possible--nothing older than 2005.  Books/monographs may be older but for historical background only.
  3. Include one current and relevant statistic (annotate in Works Cited)
  4. Include one primary source (Not an image--interview, speech, court document, etc.)  Annotate in Works Cited.
  5. One image/illustration (in addition to your primary source) Annotate in Works Cited.
  6. Recent topic coverage from two major/well-known media sources (Examples: New York Times, CNN, Newsweek) DUE 2/05
  7. Web sites must be from credible sources (Examples: universities, government, associations, experts).  Annotations required.
  8.  Your works cited must be created in Noodlebib and shared with Ms. Crawford (see this Libguide's Noodlebib tab for class names and sample Works Cited.)

Points for meeting research requirements and Noodlebib/MLA formatting: TO BE ANNOUNCED
