Topic:  Select a topic from either American Government or Economics.  Suggestions are as follows:

    Paper Requirements

    Assignment:    Your assignment will be to research and write a position paper on a controversial issue pertinent to either American Government or Economics.  This paper will take a balanced approach to both sides of the issue and will conclude with your well supported opinion on the subject.

    Sources:

    Major ideas are fully developed and supported with relevant information from a minimum of eight (8) sources:

     Ø  Six (6) data base sources that can be accessed through the Cone Library or other reliable journal sources. 

    •  Three (3) sources that support argument one (your position)
    • Three sources that support argument two (opposing position)

    Ø  Two (2) primary source documents.

    Ø  If you use an internet source, you must prove that it is a reliable source by completing a web-evaluation form and have it approved by your teacher or the librarian.  

    Ø  Your textbooks are a good place to start the research process but CANNOT be used as a source.

    Ø  Wikipedia, blogs and all general encyclopedia (Encarta, Britannica) sources are NOT allowed.
